So let me tell you a little bit about what went on in this spectacular day.  Megha & Matt started out with a Jewish Chuppah ceremony.  They even signed the Ketubah during the ceremony which we have done hundreds of times before.  This went off without any issues except one.  The amazing florists, Dhoom, forgot to make any bouquets for the bride & her bridal party!!!  WHAT?!?!  Who does that?!?!  After running around like a chicken without a head & cursing like a truck driver, our phenomenal Matre’ Di Teresa saved the day.  She actually grabbed a bunch of beautiful pink & white long stem roses & created a bouquet with green duct tape!!! Who would have green duct tape?!?!?  Teresa would!  What a miracle. After this, the Indian Ceremonies started with the bride getting dressed again & heading to the Chuda Ceremony (Described Below).

After the Chuda Ceremony we headed back to the bridal suite for her to get all new make-up hair & fashions for the Indian Ceremony under the Mandap.  The Mandap is a covered structure with pillars temporarily erected for the purpose of a Hindu wedding. The main wedding ceremonies take place under the mandap.

On the wedding day the rituals begin with the Chuda ceremony. The oldest maternal uncle and aunt play an important role in the performance of the ceremony. Chuda is basically a set of red and cream ivory bangles that is touched by all present which is gifted by girl’s Mamma (mother’s Brother) the girl does not see the chuda until she is ready for the marriage. People touch the chuda and give their heartiest wishes to the girl for her future married life. Also, they sprinkle flower petals on the bride. After that, the girl’s uncle, aunt, friends and cousins tie kaliras (silver, gold or gold plated traditional ornaments) to a bangle worn by the girl.After the Chuda Ceremony we headed back to the bridal suite for her to get all new make-up hair & fashions for the Indian Ceremony under the Mandap.While Megha was getting ready, the gentlemen readied the groom as well.Then another really radical part of the day, the Baraat.

 

The Baraat is the groom’s procession with it’s own entertainment. The groom and his horse are covered in finery  The groom usually carries a sword. Invited guests of the groom’s family are singing & dancing while accompanying the groom & his horse to the wedding ceremony.

They are accompanied by the rhythm of the dhol, an indian style big drum, when it reaches the meeting point, where the elders of both the families meet.

We really are a one trick pony huh? Well if your gonna do one trick, it might as well be the best trick ever right. We are blessed with a fantastic recommendation form one of our fabulous past couples, Michelle & Jeff to some good friends of their to photograph their son’s communion. Well, wouldn’t ya know? It’s the cool little Buddy Valastro, who’s Dad is the one & only owner of Carlo’s Bakery from the show, “Cake Boss “ ! Yup, the crew was there & we filmed a cinematic documentary Fusion Film as well as photographing this amazing event. Buddy & Lisa are nothing less than phenomenal hosts & really made Lovina & I feel like a part of their family. You will see from the images below that we really had a great time capturing this event. Lovina even said we are going to have Molly’s Communion Party here at the Pleasantdale… Of course, we will have to sell Lilly to do that! haha! We worked with a fab entertainment company as well called Prestige Entertainment & they kept the party raging the entire day!
