Let's Rock!

|| Jenna + Dimitri at El Caribe ||

The nice thing about this is Jenna never really hits you over the head with her thematic elements. It's really easy to get carried away with a theme like this, but here she uses a lot of subtly to convey the look.

Apples. Apples apples apples.

Here's what she had to say about it:

I wanted a classy but vibrant Fall/halloween [themed]...wedding cause Fall is my favorite season. The great thing about fall weddings is that you don't have to be "wed" to any particular color, you can use so many great colors and they seem to go well together, but it's still tasteful. I used a lot of burgundy, chocolate brown, burnt orange but then some gold and soft pinks to soften the look.

"I knew I wanted lots of pumpkins for the wedding so the October before the wedding...my best friend and I went pumpkin picking and bought a bunch of paint, brushes, glitter and crystals to experiment with designs on the pumpkins we bought.

I ‎painted 150 jack-be-little pumpkins

[Editor's note: I did not know that’s what they are called! That’s...the cutest thing I’ve ever heard!] with white spray paint and sprinkled them with shimmer. Those were for the table seating cards.

For the tables, I painted larger pumpkins various fall colors (copper, dark pink, gold etc) and sprinkled/dipped them in shimmer,

making a variety of different designs.

[Jenna sent us this picture of the DIY in progress! That's a lot of pumpkins]

We had alternating centerpieces with branches & fall flowers with votive candles. The table numbers were orange mason jars with fall leaves and a floating candle. It took a bit of experimenting to get to that design, but it worked out great."

Her wedding fashion was also in-step with her theme.

"It may sound cliche, but I truly loved my dress. I wanted to do something different by having straps and I loved the crystal detailing of the straps of the dress."

[She didn't really mention it, but check out this Cadillac. I feel like John would want it acknowledged. Transportation by Romantique Limos]

"The masks were halloween inspired. I wanted to do something different, fun and fall-oriented that was still tasteful. The bridesmaids had gold masquerade masks and I had a Swarovski crystal one for myself. The guys and groom had simpler, black masks.

I had a leaf hair pin in my hair and the girls had on gold, leaf earrings. The maids of honor had a gold dipped leaf necklace. ‎My shoes had a leaf strap as well"

So well thought out! Just about as well thought out as Dimitri's proposal, but it's hard to plan for everything. It's cute, and so is how they met!

"We lived in the same neighborhood and would exchange glances on the train and at the gym. He finally introduced himself after about six months. We decided to take things slow and be friends first. We ended up working out together, accidentally on purpose catching the same train and talking all day about the stupid little things to the most important details in our lives. We grew closer and closer and after taking it slow for a while, finally went on our first official date in Park Slope at the Stone Park Cafe and then Union Hall for bocce ball. He kissed me for the very first time as we crossed on to the corner of 5th Avenue and 3rd Street."

"It was always my dream to visit Italy and explore my roots, I had never been out of the country before. Dimitri, having been born in Greece, deeply understood my desire to take the trip and was anxious for me to meet his family there. After meticulous planning, we organized a tour of Italy and Greece for the better part of a month. He wanted to propose at La Trevi fountain in Rome a few days into the trip but didn't because it was under construction I had never seen someone so angry about a tourist attraction being closed. At the time, I could not understand what he was so upset about. He was fuming and kept saying, "People come here to see this!" He then held onto the ring for 10 more days and waited until we were in Santorini, Greece...on June 17, 2014. He proposed as the sun was setting and with our song on in the background.

Everything in our story, from when we started dating, to when we became official and various other pivotal moments- happened on the 17th, so he picked that day and was our wedding day as well. We say that the 17th is our number. "

That's really sweet.

Also: This is Thriller....THRILLER NIGHT!!

(And no one's gonna save you from the beast about to strike)

Why didn't I start with that? It's all you really needed to know. Thriller happened at this wedding. Have I failed all of you by not mentioning it sooner? Maybe.

Jenna said, "Speaking of Halloween inspiration...we thriller danced with a Michael Jackson impersonator, which was so much fun."

Obviously! Oh my goodness! Thanks for sharing your story with us Jenna.
